In the 80's, the group of Three Southern Maryland Counties would get together for "Honors" choirs and bands.

Unfortunately the original recording of this concert is not as good as the 1987 Concert. It's a bit muddy. I processed these at the same time, so it's unlikely to be the equipment.
That aside, I'm not really a fan of this concert and especially not the last two songs. "Here's One" is not a bad song, but seems out of place for a high school choir concert and more something for Sunday church service. It's not only very religious, but specifically Christian.
Granted, in 1987 the concert was all religious songs, but I guess it seemed different since songs like "Go Down Moses", " Elijah Rock", and even "Show me Thy way" could be for Christians, Jews, and Muslims, so it seemed a bit more inclusive. Contrast this to "Talk about a Child who do love Jesus" and "Canticle of Praise" which is literally Psalm 103:13 set to music.
As for "Canticle of Praise", it's just a strange song. Not a good fit for the last song in a high school choir performance. The last song should not be something that sounds like a modern art piece.
If you want to hear a better recording of the last two songs, I've found good performances here so that you can listen and make up your own mind.
"Canticle of Praise" by John Ness Beck
Then again, none of these reasons may be why I do not remember the music. 1988 was a busy year. This was the year that I made All State Honors Choir and I remember that vividly and fondly. Speaking of fondly, I also met a rather nice Alto named Carmen Gibson, whom I also remember fondly, but that alas is another story.
How hard is it to find the title of a song?
For this year the songs "Here's One" and "Canticle of Praise" were especially difficult to track down.
As always the first thing when trying to determine the name and arrangement of a song is to simply type the first lyric into Google and then see what shows up. View the first 10 videos or so, and if that doesn't give you any hits then try the same search in Google.
If that still doesn't work, then add terms like "choir" or "SATB" after, and if that doesn't work... get creative.
"Here's One" by "Mark Hayes"
This seems like it will be easy. Searching on Google for the first lyric gives lots of hits.
"Talk about a child who do love Jesus, here's one"
But none of them seem to be the song I'm looking for.
But, the 10th search item in YouTube is what I'm looking for.
"Here's One, arr. Mark Hayes"
Canticle of Praise
A Goolgle search for "As a Father pitieth his children" gives zero hits, but it does lead to PSALMS 103:13 which is "Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him."
A Google search for "PSALMS 103 song" gives nothing.
Maybe if we get more specific
A YouTube Search for "PSALMS 103:13" gives this.
I'll just leave this here. This is not what I'm looking for
Yentha Jaali Yesuva - Psalm 103:13
A YouTube search for "PSALMS 103:13 choir" also gives nothing.
A Google search for "PSALMS 103:13 SATB" seems promissing. There is a great Wikipedia page, but lists 26 different composers. Psalm 103
In truth after a couple hours I gave up on this one.
Then after a break I came back and tried again with a Google search for the entire lyric in quotes and added the word choir and Bingo! ""As a Father pitieth his children, so the lord pitieth them that fear him" choir"'
What's a few hours of searching between friends?

What is the Audition like?
I happened to have my audition form, and it seems they grade you on Voice Quality, Intonation, Diction, Breath Support, Posture, and Volume while you sing America (My Country, 'Tis of Thee).
Then you get some Sight-Reading and Phrase Repetition tests.
And to round it all off, 10% in "Other".
If you have read this far, why not take the red pill and go all the way?
